Welcome
It’s not about the venue or how elaborate the wedding is, it’s about the people, the laughter, the tears, the fleeting moments. This is what I want my photographs to mean to you. I want you to not only see your photographs but be transported right back to the way you felt when the button was clicked
10 years of photography
Some people call me Clare, some call me Clara. And quite a few of the 300 couples I’ve met over the past 10 years of photographing weddings have called me their very own Mary Poppins.
Here’s why…
Ten years ago, I gave up my career as an award-winning press photographer to start my own wedding photography business.
Since then, I’ve created albums for couples getting married with a vast array of budgets and styles, at all kinds of venues, and in all sorts of weather.
No two weddings are the same but at every one I’ve endeavoured to create unique, imaginative, heart-felt images to last a lifetime, capturing those special moments
- A mum straightening her daughter’s veil
- The first time a dad sees his girl in her gown
- Bridesmaids laughing
- Children giggling
- Grandparents holding out their hand
- The tributes to loved ones who could not be there
But I am not just a wedding photographer. I have years of experience knowing what my couples need on their day, whether it’s a comforting hug or a reassuring look across the room to help them relax when they are a bit
nervous. And that’s where the Mary Poppins bit comes in.
I know every trick in the book when it comes to herding difficult guests, I’m the person who carries an emergency pack of hairpins and scissors and a needle and thread in case of a last-minute emergency, the one who can coax a smile from a moody teenager and spot a tear running down a loved one’s cheek as they watch the ceremony.
The job of a wedding photographer demands professionalism, but I’m on a mission to bring the fun along too and make the whole experience wonderful.
Here’s how I do what I do
Portraits
Taking some time out for just the two of you on your day and using me as an excuse is a fabulous way to get away and be together for a few minutes. I never ask you to be away from your guests for hours, just 15 minutes to get you some gorgeous portraits while your make-up is still perfect and your dress spotless; your hair in place, your tie straight and your shoes still shiny.
The moments
My favourite parts of the day… why? Because I never know what I am going to go home with on my camera. These are the images that are going to transport you right back to the day, back to how you were feeling and the things happening around you that you didn’t even notice. The biggest compliment I get from my couples is they didn’t even notice me around when that special photograph was taken.
Whatever the weather
“What if it rains on my wedding day?”. This is probably the most popular question I get asked. And my answer… Your wedding day is unique and along with that comes the weather, it’s the one thing on the day we can’t control, so just go with it! During the day, I will find dry places for you to have your photographs taken. Don’t worry… I won’t get you absolutely soaked!
Don’t be afraid of the dark
I photograph a lot of autumn and winter weddings, so the light fades a lot faster than a usual day. Don’t let that put you off. I love nothing more than getting out the lights and creating something special! All you must do is brave the cold and the weather for a few minutes!
I bet you look good on the dance floor!
I am not going to run as soon as your first dance is over. There’s nothing I like more than to stay for a while and capture the action on the dance floor, which is usually full after the DJ or band has invited everyone to join you to celebrate. And a little tip… If you want a full dance floor the bride or groom need to be at the centre of it.
Venues
Over the years I have had the pleasure of working at some amazing venues, the relationships I have built have enabled me to become a recommended supplier to many of these venues. Listed are the venues I am lucky enough to be a part of. For more venues I have worked at please follow the link below.
